![]() ![]() She started medicating him with increasingly high doses of Klonopin when he was twelve, but his body kept adapting and the symptoms would come back, particularly whenever they fought. So she got sloppy and left clues to her secrets around, slowly testing the limits of how obvious she was before someone could put two and two together. Having to keep a secret for so long, she became paranoid and isolated, and whether she consciously did wanted to or not, didn't want to be alone anymore. Despite this, she has been preparing for the inevitability, as seen with the old x-ray room and tranquilizers. A total of three or maybe four incidents occurred and Reese didn't seem to understand at first that he looked different, so Joan made sure to stay on top of his dosages so he rarely did. By the second time, it wasn’t as subtle and it didn’t go away as easy. Joan was scared and Reese saw that and stopped. ![]() Soon after they had an argument, and he changed just a couple inches and facial abnormalities enough to be noticeable. Joan discovered Reese's condition a little after he hit puberty, with the usual changes, but a few extra: “Thickened nails, sharp teeth, elfish ears.” She had him checked out at a few specialists but there was nothing obviously wrong with him. When she found out she was pregnant, she was terrified, and didn’t know if she was ready, but Reese made her love being a mom. According to her, she had just woke up one day pregnant, though she kept having weird romantic sleep paralysis episodes, she insists they were just dreams. Joan wasn't seeing anyone when she had Reese. In the past, she used to be a lot more friendlier with others, and she views the memories of Stella, Kaneeka, and Reese together fondly. She developed this attitude after discovering Reese's transformation, and has most likely become guarded to protect their secret. Joan's personality comes off as very brusque, though she doesn't mean to come off as rude. She occasionally wears a lab coat over the outfit. She wears a red flannel tucked into blue jeans with her sleeves rolled up, and wears a white undershirt. It's felt great from Episode 4 onward to finally be able to start cashing in on things that have been set up from the beginning on the game, and it's only going to get more fun from here.Joan is a middle aged woman with slightly greying brown hair tied into a ponytail. Work on both games is going really well! The first draft of Episode 5 is about 25% done and we've been having a lot of fun writing it. The stream will be simulcast to the Slay the Princess Steam page as well as our Twitch channel [and we'll be sure to look at chat in both places to make sure we see your questions! We're also doing a Q&A livestream where you'll get to see Abby work on some background art for Episode 5 of Scarlet Hollow and ask us all sorts of questions about both of our games.Should be a treat if you want to hear about people's writing process. We managed to pull together some amazing panelists, including Emily Short (Creative Director at Failbetter Games), Sarah Northway (I Was a Teenage Exocolonist) and Son M. It should go live on the event's Steam page on Friday at 4pm EST. We've got quite a few more AU prints planned, though we're not sure when/if we'll do print runs for them - I guess it'll depend on how well this second campaign goes! You can see the art for the next one and download HD wallpapers of all these prints and tons of Scarlet Hollow game art on our Patreon right now [We've got a few other things going on this week too, since it's the start of LudoNarraCon about using game mechanics and systems as tools for narrative design. The crowdfund is live now and will run for 15 days, so it should end on the 19th, and the first 50 backers get an enamel Ditchling pin thrown in for free ^^ Everyone really seemed to like the beach poster (it funded in ~an hour~), so we're doing another! And this time, it's everyone going to the State Fair.
